A Journey of Pure Sadhana: A Review of Anahata By Vaswati Misra

As a Kathak practitioner who has dedicated over four decades to the ghungroos, I witnessed an evening where performance completely dissolves into Sadhana. This Sunday, Anahata —

A Journey Within achieved that rare alchemy—by passing the intellect to speak straight to the soul.

The production’s striking imagery perfectly mirrored its internal depth: a silhouette anchored in meditation, the heart chakra glowing as a beacon of cosmic energy.

From the first movement, the connection was instantaneous. It was deeply evident that, like us, these young dancers also do not merely practice—they meditate through their art. As they entered a state of pure trance on stage, the Rasikas, were pulled into that same spiritual current, traveling the sacred path right along with them.

Translating such an abstract, spiritual feeling into physical movement is a monumental task.

It was my pleasure to be a part of the vision and making of the beautiful production, which was flawlessly executed, and seamlessly knitted.

My heartfelt congratulations to Nalini, Joy Dey, Santosh Nair, and the entire team. Anahata is far more than a performance; it is a vital, immersive awakening—a beautiful reminder of why we dance. This Sunday was just the beginning.

I urge everyone to spread the word and ensure this magnificent vision reaches the wider audiences it so deeply deserves.
